CARES ACT GRANT PROGRAM REPORTING

LeGrand Institute of Cosmetology signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

LeGrand Institute of Cosmetology received a total grant of $54,018.00 from the Department of Education.  Pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students, the institution must allocated $27,009 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.  The institution portion, $27,009, will be used for costs incurred during distance education, future costs for distance education and for updating the school due to restrictions caused by COVID.  Click below to access our Quarterly Budget and Expenditure Reports under the CARES Act Section 18004(a)(1) Institution Portion for the each quarter listed below.

As of 6/15/2020, we had not issued any grants as we did not receive the grant funds until June 17, 2020.  As of 7/15/2020, we have issued $15,000.00 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. As of 8/30/2020, we have issued $18,000 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.  As of 10/10/2020, we have issued $18,000 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.  As of 11/15/2020, we have issued $19,000.00 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1).  As of 12/15/2020, we have issued $27,000 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act.   

We have 19 eligible students at LeGrand Institute of Cosmetology that are or could be eligible to participate in the Federal student financial aid programs under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and thus are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

As of 7/15/2020, we have distributed 15 COVID grants to students.  As of 8/30/2020, we have distributed 18 COVID grants to students.  As of 10/10/2020, we have distributed 18 COVID grants to students.  As of 11/15/2020, we have distributed 19 COVID grants to students.  As of 12/15/2020, we have distributed 27 COVID grants to students.  We have distributed all of our $27,009.00 in COVID grant funds.

For consideration of the grant, students must complete an EMERGENCY FINANCIAL AID GRANT (CARES ACT) STUDENT REQUEST FORM.  The students must indicate why they need financial support for their expenses as related to the disruption of campus operations due to the Coronavirus.  Once the form is received by our financial aid office, they will determine, based on the information provided, if the student is eligible to receive this grant.  The COVID grant is $1000 per student.  Once all applications have been received, we will accept a second round of applications from same cohort of students on a first-come, first-serve basis after three months. 

Students are advised that they are receiving the COVID grant to use for Education Expenses/Course Materials/Technology, Food/Housing, Healthcare/Childcare, and Job Loss/Furlough experienced due to the disruption of their education.  They were advised to purchase a Chromebook, WIFI or hotspot in case we had to go resume distance education.
